Belly Dancing for Bats
Adler Cosmetic and Family Dentistry recently supported the charitable event described below (excerpted from ‘Bat Conservation International’):
BCI Members have always been innovative fundraisers on behalf of bats, but Kim Hall’s “Belly Dancing for Bats” event at The Bug Theatre in Denver, Colorado, seems to have raised the bar. Kim, who sports a large tattoo of an Egyptian fruit bat on her back, has been belly dancing for years, teaches the art form and regularly gives professional performances. She also has a degree from the University of Maine in wildlife ecology and worked with bats during a stint at the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. Now living in Colorado, she founded the local dance troupe Indigo Rain. The fundraiser she says, reflects her two passions: bats and belly dancing. She and a number of her colleagues put on the show to help BCI’s efforts to combat White-nose Syndrome.

Dr. Jim Harding, DDS
Adler Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is proud to welcome Dr. James Harding as the newest member of our team. Dr. Harding will be in our office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. He will offer the finest treatment in general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Harding is trained and skilled in aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry in addition to the placement and restoration of implants. He also treats sleep apnea.
Dr. Harding is a graduate of University of North Carolina with a DDS and a degree in Psychology. Dr. Harding also has a practice, The Vail Valley Center for Aesthetic Dentistry in Avon, Colorado. He has been an LVI clinical instructor since 2001 and teaches ten or more courses a year. Dr. Harding has received a fellowship from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He was president of the International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetic Dentistry (IACA) from 2007-2008. He is the official dental provider to the US Ski and Snowboard Teams and the dental provider and team dentist for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. Dr. Harding is a member of many well-known organizations including the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the International College of Oral Implantologists to name just a few. He has also published several articles and papers.

Boulder, Colorado, May 31, 2010 – Adler Cosmetic and Family Dentistry today released an announcement confirming the availability of neuromuscular orthodontics services in the Denver-Boulder metropolitan area. Dr. Michael Adler has advanced training in the specialization known as neuromuscular orthodontics and holds a fellowship from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). Dr. Adler and his practice is widely known in the Denver-Boulder area, along the Colorado Front Range, and nationally for its exceptional skills in the practice of advanced dentistry.
Neuromuscular orthodontics can be used to reposition an improper bite. Its practice goes a step beyond traditional orthodontics as a method of restorative therapy. Neuromuscular orthodontics considers the entire system that controls the positioning and function of a patient’s jaw – the teeth, muscles and joints – resulting in jaw position.
Misalignment of the bite or TMD/TMJ is reported to affect approximately 15 percent of American adults, with an even higher prevalence among women. Symptoms may include headaches, neck pain, clicking or popping of the jaw, clenching or grinding, dizziness, ringing in the ears, tingling of the fingertips, nervousness, and sleep disorders. Using neuromuscular techniques a patient’s bite can be adjusted to its optimal functionality to address the related symptoms. Neuromuscular orthodontics is also an ideal approach for children to guide their growth to a more ideal position.
If it is determined that the bite is the likely cause of the dysfunction, a new jaw position is identified that leaves jaw muscles in a more relaxed state. Numerous treatment options are available and can be discussed with Dr. Adler. Pediatric Orthodontics from A Neuromuscular Perspective
Dr. Adler of Adler Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is constantly expanding his knowledge of the most up to date technology and treatment techniques available. Recently Dr. Adler has attended several courses at the world renowned Las Vegas Institution (LVI) on Pediatric Orthodontics – A Neuromuscular Perspective. These courses focus on understanding the facial development, skeletal malocclusions, airway obstruction and the value of early intervention. Early detection and treatment of malocclusion and airway obstruction in children is important to prevent these issue from developing further and causing additional problems to the patients as they grow older and have to treat these compounded issues as adults.
Dr. Adler has been treating his patients with neuromuscular dentistry for many years with great success.
